Southern Fried Apples are a delicious crowd pleaser that leave the whole house spelling like warm cinnamon sugar! I am a HUGE fan of apple dishes. Whether it’s a pie, a salad or southern fried apples, count me in! Not to mention, with the Fall season just days away, I am really getting in the spirit. Pumpkin bread, apple desserts, and orange twinkle lights have taken over my life. I can’t be alone in this- that’s why I chose to share this recipe to ring in the new season.

Southern Fried Apples are perfect for just about any meal or event. They go great as a sweet addition to a weekend breakfast, or the perfect quick dessert served with vanilla bean ice cream. It’s up to you! This recipe comes together quickly and uses ingredients you probably already have on hand. Let me know if you give it a try. I am sure you will love it as much as we do!

Ingredients

  • 2 Granny Smith Apples- Peeled, Cored and Sliced
  • 4 Tablespoons of Butter
  • Juice of 1/2 Lemon
  • 2 Tablespoons White Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon

Instructions

Step 1

Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the apples and drizzle them with the lemon juice. Let apples simmer until most of butter is absorbed and apples are tender. (Do not overcook. Apples should be firm to the touch, yet tender with a little give to the bite.)

Step 2

Stir together sugars and sprinkle them over apples. Let apples cook until sugars are completely dissolved and syrupy.

Step 3

Remove from apples from heat and toss in the cinnamon. Plate apples and serve piping hot.
